What I learnt from a disappointing incident.

This is an incident when I was in 5th standard. One fine summer evening, I along with my four friends went to the swimming pool. Swimming Pool had a gradual slope from four feet to six. We were supposed to swim in four feet depth because we were in process to learn swimming. I along with my swimming tube entered the pool. As there was no rush in pool, we enjoyed the cool water in warm atmosphere.

I removed tube as I felt that my feet could touch the floor but accidentally tube came off my hands and started floating away from me. I went behind it to catch hold of it but tube floated to other side where water was six feet deep. I could observe that my height gradually started burying in water. “AND” all of sudden my legs were above the pool floor and I started sinking down. Frightened, I cried for help. It terrified me and I was now trembling with fear. I could feel my throbbing head.

Noticing me the instructor at once dived and took me out safely but in this process I felt unconscious. I was taken to hospital because artificial breathing didn't help. My family was in complete shock and were worried.

I was terribly choked up with water but at last I gained conscious. My mother was sitting beside me and she took a breath of relief.

My mother strictly instructed me not to go near water again. My love for swimming was so deep that my mother’s instructions were of no avail. I convinced my family that I would never repeat this mistake in future. At last mom agreed to my request. After 3 weeks I again joined swimming pool. And then I became very diligent, I listen to every instructions of tutor and gradually I gained confidence. I learnt to swim without tube and that even in six feet depth.
Yippee.

This incident left on me a great impression. But that was my mistake and I learnt important lesson of my life. Never ever do work beyond your reach and take your own time in gaining confidence over it. If one has to succeed in life risk has to be taken and in this process one may lose or gain. Failures always give room for improvement. Only thing is that conditions are sometimes favorable and at times not. But overcoming them by being positive one can achieve success.

"Failures and risks are like seasons, they come and go but we should learn from them and remain steadfast to achieve his aim."
