MY BIGGEST REGRET

Friends i am going to share with you a recent incident which would surely serve as an eye opener for many.It was exactly nine days before the much hyped "Mid Term Exams" that i fell ill.Taking it as a normal cold and throat infection i went to the IIT hospital. This is the first and the biggest of my regrets. On arrival due to unavailability of doctors i was referred to an Orthopaedic(not at all related with my symptoms!)who without even checking my throat or fever prescribed me a long dose of tablets.
As an ideal patient i took care of each and every word of his’ only to find my condition deteriorating.Such grave was my condition that i had to be admitted to the hospital. The minor cold had transformed to a serious throat infection and the nurses kept on injecting intravenous injections about which they had no knowledge.  The doctor came only once in the morning for a minute and he too gave no reply to my persistent questions about the dosage.Since my hometown is nearby in Chandigarh i requested permission to leave to which they declined with the excuse that things were improving and within a day i would be back to my mundane life.
Sadly i believed them and told my father to cancel his booked ticket to see me.Now this is  my second biggest regret. That night was the most painful night,I couldn't eat a thing,Even water would sting in my throat. My father came in the afternoon the subsequent day and took me home.I took bed rest for a week. I had my dosage checked:a medicine was steroid!!When the whole hostel was busy with mid term preparation i was lying on my bed. This scarred my preparation which is reflected in my marks. To add fuel professors even denied my leave as a medical leave saying absent is absent and are counting it in the 25% leave!
I still remember that loneliness in the depressing hospital room, watching the big ceiling fan creaking and revolving slowly.but thanks to my great friends they made my worst time pass happily, cracking jokes and gossiping!
On a serious note i would advise everyone in case you are feeling sick kindly don’t put all your faith in the  IIT hospital people,Please refer to some outside Doctor  in case things are not improving. And always have a good friend circle as friends are the only solace in these difficult times.
